Overview

What it is

Living with type 2 diabetes means making many small decisions with numbers. A good diary turns scattered readings into patterns your doctor can use. This system makes logging quick and does the sums for you. It is not a notebook: it is a workbook that calculates, with a guide, printables and a worked example.

How it works

Six steps, always in the same order and the same colour across the workbook, the guide and the printables: set up, measure, eat, habits, review and doctor.

  1. Enter the targets you agree with your doctor: a low alert, maximums before and after meals and a very high alert.
  2. Log each reading with its context (fasting, before or after a meal, bedtime). The workbook labels it Low, In range, High or Very high.
  3. Log what you eat in grams: pick the food from an editable list and the workbook works out the carbohydrates and the rations (10 g, or the size you use).
  4. Log habits: medication, activity and sleep each day; weight, waist, blood pressure and steps each week.
  5. The Dashboard shows fasting and after-meal averages, the share of readings in range, lows and highs, and your habits.
  6. The Doctor Summary: choose two dates and get a one-page summary of the period, ready to print.

What makes it different

  • It does not calculate insulin or medication doses and does not advise on treatment: it records and summarises. You set the targets with your doctor.
  • An editable list of 26 foods with carbohydrates per portion, and a printable food card.
  • A worked example of three weeks, with one meal calculated step by step in the guide.
  • Calculations are visible formulas, no macros: they behave the same in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets.
  • Units in mg/dL or mmol/L, and protected sheets so formulas cannot be deleted by accident.

What it is not

A personal diary. It is not medical advice and does not replace your doctor, diabetes team or dietitian. Carbohydrate values are approximate. If a reading is low, or very high and does not come down, follow the plan your doctor gave you and seek urgent help when you need it. Never change your treatment because of what you see in the workbook. It makes no promise about health outcomes.

What it helps you do

  • See your readings with their context, not as loose numbers
  • Know how many carbohydrates and rations each meal you log contains
  • Arrive at the appointment with a one-page summary instead of memories
  • Spot patterns: which meals and moments go with high or low readings
  • Everything on paper and on screen, with an emergency card

Frequently asked questions

What exactly do I receive?

One ZIP with the workbook, the Master Guide, the “Start here” document, 6 printables in A4 and Letter, a worked example and the documentation. You download it from “My products” instantly.

Does it calculate insulin or tell me what medication to take?

No. It does not calculate insulin or any other drug dose and does not advise on treatment. It records what you measure and eat and summarises it. Any change in treatment must be decided by your doctor.

Where do the glucose targets come from?

From you and your doctor. The workbook ships with example values in mg/dL so it works from the first minute; replace them with the ones you agree before you rely on the status words.

Are the carbohydrates in the food list exact?

They are approximate, rounded values. Brands and recipes vary: check the label and edit any row, or add your own foods.

Does it work in mmol/L?

Yes. Change the unit and the five target values in the My Targets sheet.

Does it work in Google Sheets and LibreOffice?

It is built only with functions common to all three programs and has no macros. The calculations were checked with an independent formula engine; it has not been tested on a desktop Excel installation or printed on paper.

What is the difference between the Spanish edition, the English edition and the pack?

Each edition is written independently in its own language, with its own sheet and file names. The pack includes both for less than buying them separately.
